The Sylvia Saunders Trophy is in memory of a dear friend of country music who tragically died of cancer in 1993.
Sylvia, who lived at Hodthorpe, nr Worksop, was present at the very first Ponsmere Festival in 1989 and helped along with others to make a basis for a first class festival we now enjoy.
Sylvia was a champion for the people in life that never get true recognition for the hard work they put in to help others.
Hence the reason for this trophy, which is to give the acts and members a chance to win a major festival honour,irrespective of how good or famous the act may be.
